How is the view?

Japan is definitely different than America. Business marketing is different, food is different, work ethics are different, class etiquette is different, etc…, and being foreign doesn’t exclude you from any of these. Why should they? You live in their country now. Oh, and one more thing that is really important and is different… in Japan it is not against the law to refuse service or not hire anyone for any reason what so ever. You are even required to attach a picture to your application. Can they not hire you because you aren’t pretty enough? Yup. Is it against the law to hang up a sign on your place of business that says “No foreigners”… nope. Guess what… welcome to reality. If it were legal in America do you think people would do it? Of course they would. Reality is that people go to other countries and do stupid things. Well, people, when you go and do stupid stuff in another country, you are a representative of everyone in your country. It could be your fault that nobody can go to a really good raman shop anymore. So please, before making a complete fool of yourself, and more importantly, me, think just a little bit. I only bring this up because many people make posts on their blogs or vlogs complaining about signs they see in Japan about “No Foreigners” or whatever. I say, whatever, spend your money elsewhere and thank the people before you that ruined it for everyone. NEXT! If you don’t like getting stared at, don’t go to another country. If you look different, they are going to stare. Its just the way things work. When you are on a train people will stare, when walking down the road people will stare, when eating at a restaurant … people will stare. Welcome to being a minority, thats right I said it. Going to another country = you are a minority. Sounds kinda weird for some of you, huh? Am I saying Japan is full of people who are wonderful and nice and all of that nonsense, no. I’m saying that you shouldn’t dwell on things that don’t matter. Everyplace has their bad apples. Some are just plain racist and don’t like you because you are white. So what, so they say mean things to you in Japanese. You will probably never meet that person again. Ok, now that I have ranted about some things that have been bothering me. Back to the original topic. From my point of view things here have been pretty great. I haven’t really had any bad run-ins, and 90% of the people I meet are really nice and are genuinely interested in me. Most awkward moment in my Japanese experience is the first time I went to the onsen, but that was just the first time. It feels normal to go now. Don’t be late for class… they really don’t like or accept tardiness, if you are late, go anyway and face the punishment, which is really just a talking to about how its rude and disrespectful. Japan is fun, I love it here. Where I live, there is PLENTY of things to do, and you can pretty much fill your time if you know how to make friends. Im going to post again in a few days, I went to disney and I want to share that, but I was reading some of my regular blogs and watching some youtube and got caught up in some of their nonsense. It was kinda long today and sorry about that. I would like to start building a real fanbase. Getting people to subscribe and posting regularly. I have a few ideas for some things that im going to do soon on the website. I ask the few fans that I do have to try to spread the word. I’ll get back to everyone real soon.

very interesting perspective. I imagine that those things would be expected by most people but I guess saying that is taking it for granted. So Disney huh? That sounds exciting! Can’t wait to see the pictures.

Sadly I lost my camera :*( so there aren’t any pictures of Disney. Yes, one sad panda in Japan.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been a big fan of Koichi for a long time and was partly inspired. I remember his post about the first conference, but I have been really busy lately. I am definitely going to look into the next one though, thanks again.
